While water filters have become one of the most popular ways to purify tap
water, there are also many other options for daily use. Many municipal H2O
treatment plants have different ways they clean the water passed through the
plant. However, most of these processes are proven to not be as effective as the

Conditioning is another process that is used by many municipal H2O
systems to clean the water. Conditioning is a process that is used to
soften hard water. Hard H2O is H2O that contains a high level of hard salts
and is treated with sodium carbonates to remove these excess salts from the
water. The hard salts that may still be present even after water conditioning
are easily removed with the addition of water filters to the system and the
water is left clean and great tasting.
Another type of chemical that can easily get into water is lead. Since H2O is
often taken into a water treatment center and run through lead pipes, it is
possible for the lead to become present in the water. High levels of lead in
water can be toxic and hazardous to residents' health so many H2O treatment
plants use a system called plumbo-solvency reduction to remove the lead
particles and lead salts in the water. In order to be assured that most of the
lead particles from the pipes are removed from the H2O before consumption,
many homeowners use water filters in their home. Water filters are able to
remove even the most microscopic particles of lead that can still cause an
effect in the taste or odor of the H2O.
Treatment plants use a variety of H2O purification techniques in order
to remove chemicals or particles from the water. While the water may be safe to
consume or use in the home, it may not be quality H2O. In order to increase
the quality of their home's water, many residents purchase water filters to use
in the home. Since water filters can remove most of the particles or toxins that
the treatment process may have left behind, the H2O that flows through
the tap is much more healthy and fresh.
